The Family Pastoral Council serves as the primary voice for parishioners within our Family of Parishes. Acting as a consultative body to the Pastor, its members are chosen to represent the parish community. The council is dedicated to finding effective ways to listen and remain connected to the concerns and needs of parishioners, providing valuable feedback to the pastor and parish staff.
By uniting and building a single parish community with our three churches, we are able to make the most effective use of our time, talents, and resources. Drawing on our Catholic faith and seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit, St. Gregory the Great continues to thrive as a dynamic parish.
With the implementation of the Beacons of Light, a process of pastoral planning to best arrange all the resources of the archdiocese, one Family Pastoral Council was formed to serve our three churches within the Family. The Family Pastoral Council is composed of nine members, with three representatives from each church. Members serve three-year terms and are eligible to serve one additional three-year term. The Pastor and Parochial Vicars assigned to the Family will be ex-officio non-voting Members. The council meets on the fourth Monday of each month, though some exceptions may apply.
One important avenue through which the council stays attuned to parishioners is through its liaisons with the Family Councils of Evangelization, Health, Social Action, Worship and our schools. These liaisons relay parishioners’ interests, concerns, and suggestions for improving parish life. Additionally, the Pastoral Council can be reached via its email address pastoralcouncil@sggparish.org and through regular townhalls.
Parishioners are welcome to attend Pastoral Council meetings by appointment. To arrange attendance, parishioners are asked to call a council member or contact the parish office to schedule an appointment.
