Family Faith Formation at St. Gregory the Great combines faith formation, parental support, and enrichment opportunities to support the whole family’s growth in their Catholic faith.
At St. Gregory the Great Family of Parishes, we recognize that the seeds of faith are first planted and grown at home.
Our Family Faith Formation program is intended to support you and each member of your family’s life of faith through age-appropriate, catechist-led sessions that bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to life. Sessions explore and celebrate our rich Catholic faith through the study of Scripture, Sacraments, saints, prayer, core Catholic values, opportunities for Catholic community, and much more!
The structure of Family Faith Formation combines experiences for the whole family:
Children in 2nd grade will receive Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion. Children in 7th grade will receive Sacramental preparation for Confirmation. There will be an additional parent meeting and retreat for each of these sacraments.
We recognize your family has its unique schedule and needs. That’s why we provide three options for K-6th Grade Family Faith Formation and a 7th Grade Confirmation Prep program to support your family’s spiritual journey. Each program includes faith formation opportunities for both children and their parents.
Learn more about our programs below or view our 2026-2027 Family Faith Formation letter.
All three Family Faith Formation options use the Graded Course of Study, as designed by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and the textbook, Christ in Us, by Sadlier Inc. It is a spiral curriculum that focuses on the most essential teachings of our Catholic faith, going deeper at each grade level.

Confirmation is the final step into full initiation into the life and mission of the church that was begun at Baptism.
The mission of Christ, passed on to the Church and to each one of us as disciples of Christ, is to be witnesses to Christ as the Son of God and our Savior.
Confirmation is also then the “commencement” step into living out our call to “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations… (Matthew 28:19).”
We are called to be God’s hands and feet in the world, working with Christ to bring about the Kingdom on Earth. In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the Holy Spirit equips us more fully with His gifts to build up the Church and, with the fruits of the Holy Spirit, to make us effective in our witness.
To prepare for reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation, students in both the school programs and the Family Faith Formation programs will review key tenets of our Catholic faith, as well as plan, execute, or review discipleship activities. There will also be a retreat, a Confirmation rehearsal, and an optional monthly (1 hour) parent/sponsor meeting.
